Education Symposium
Teaching community, learning collectively, being a network
The three-day Symposium is organised in collaboration with Museu Picasso to initiate dialogue around topics that emerged from the research programme Fora per fer escola, which shaped the Education and Mediation programme of Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana. Across three thematic sessions, it brings together artists and cultural agents involved in the programme, as well as professionals who share ideas, agency, and practices.

Fora per fer escola aims to reconnect with the progressive Catalan educational movements that existed both before and after the Franco dictatorship. Through artistic research, mediation, public programming, publications and professional networks, it seeks to highlight ideas and practices that can contribute to the pedagogical and eco-social transformations necessary today. In the face of rising right-wing ideologies across Europe, ecological and health crises, and the neoliberalisation of education, the programme explores what can be learned from ideas of past educational movements that emerged in similar historical contexts and what remains of their political agenda today.

The programme includes talks, public discussions, working sessions, and performance by Diversorium. Check the full programme here.
